Info and Description

Ready to discover Tuscany, Italy? Here you find travel advice for your holiday through the villages and views of Tuscany, whether you choose to stay at a farmhouse at the heart of Chianti or you prefer to reserve a holiday house or villa near Pisa or Lucca, for example...

Which is the best way to visit Tuscany? Only the biggest towns are well connected by trains and buses. So, if you want to go off the beaten path, driving a car is the easiest way to discover Tuscany because you can take your time and do not have to depend on public transport. It is certainly the best way to fully enjoy the Tuscan scenery ;)

How far are Rome and Venice from Florence? Closer than you may think, in fact Italian high-speed trains can take you to Rome in only 1 hour and a half and to Venice in 2 hours. What is more, you can get discounted tickets by buying them in advance, just check rail time and fares online.

Which are the traditional foods to eat on a holiday in Tuscany? The best advice is to keep away from those restaurants just for tourists and try traditional dishes and wines, such as the Chianti wine, the Florentine T-bone steak (bistecca alla fiorentina), Tuscan soups and platters of meats and cheeses accompanied by jams. And if you are sweet tooth, you are in the right place: welcome to the Chocolate Valley! Some chocolatiers to remember are De Bondt in Pisa, Mannori in Prato, Slitti near Florence, Amedei in Pontedera... discovering Tuscany can be a very tasty experience!

And finally... when to go? In spring and in autumn the temperature is milder, there are fewer tourists, and you can book accommodation at lower prices. In summer the heat is very intense, the days are longer, the brightest colors of nature and the nice weather are perfect for a nice swim in the sea at Cala Violina, Follonica, San Vincenzo, Quercianella... and it's also the time of festivals and music festivals, culminating in the end of September harvest. In winter landscapes seem frozen but remain beautiful, such as the Val d'Orcia, some delicious products such as the white truffle are rediscovered and you can admire villages and cities decorated with Christmas or Carnival decorations... Whatever season you choose for your holiday, remember to send us a postcard! ;)
