Info and Description

The reasons for a holiday in Farmhouse in Sicily are many: the sun that shines for most of the year, a wonderful sea, a lush nature, excellent cuisine , the warmth of the locals. But the excuse for a holiday in Sicily can also be to participate in one of the many events that take place every year on this beautiful land of folklore: folk festivals, processions, festivals and festivals. Here we recommend some of the most beautiful events for which it is worth booking in one of our typical structures in Sicily.

Festival of Almond Blossom

The Almond Blossom Festival is a popular festival held every year in the month of March in the city of Agrigento , in the marvelous setting of the Valley of the Temples. For a week we celebrate the arrival of spring with folk groups coming from all over the world and side events such as exhibitions and tastings of typical Sicilian products.
The event begins with a visit, at sunset to the Valley of the Temples and continues with the lighting of the "friendship torch" in front of the Temple of Concordia. The most important event sees parade folk groups from the city to the Valley of the Temples.

Carnival of Acireale (Catania)

The Carnival of Acireale is one of the oldest in Sicily and takes place every year in February in the city of Acireale in the province of Catania . Among its features there is the parade of allegorical floats and infiorati characterized by thousands of light bulbs and lights, spectacular mechanical movements.

Feast of Sant'Agata in Catania

The Festa di Sant'Agata is the most important religious festival in Catania that is celebrated every year for five centuries, in honor of the patron saint of the city. Every year, the Feast, deeply felt and declared as an Anthropological Heritage of Humanity by Unesco, attracts more than a million faithful from all over the world. It is held from 3 to 5 February , when the silver bust and the relics of Sant'Agata are carried in procession through the city . A characteristic of the Festa di are the "candelore", huge candles decorated in an artistic way that precede the procession.

Feast of Santa Rosalia in Palermo

The Santa Rosalia Festino takes place every year, in the month of July , in Palermo . It is the most important religious festival in Palermo, which celebrates the liberation of the city from the plague of 1642, after the discovery of the relics of the Saint on Mount Pellegrino. The party begins the night between 14 and 15 July, when the faithful accompany in procession the Carro della Santuzza, a true contemporary work of art and ends at midnight in the Cathedral, among the shouts of the confreres who glorify the Saint and the songs of devotion.

The Dance of the Devils in Prizzi (Palermo)

The Dance of the Devils is a folkloristic-religious tradition linked to the Easter events in the municipality of Prizzi , in the province of Palermo . It is a real dance, in which Death and two devils go in search of souls. Since the morning of Easter, two masked devils and death roam the streets of the country making jokes and holding on passers-by, who are released only in exchange for money or sweets. The highlight of the Festa, the true Dance of the Devils, takes place in the afternoon, when the devils try to prevent the encounter between the statues of Christ and the Madonna, to which the angels are opposed.
